India – Egypt PTA

Egypt is part of Common Market for Eastern and Suthern Africa (COMESA) Group and has recently concluded a Comprehensive Economic Agreement with European Union

Egypt proposed a free trade agreement with India. Following the inter-ministerial meeting among the countries in April 2001, it was decided to set up a Joint Working Group to negotiate a PTA on 15th January 2002.  The draft text has been discussed and the list of products for preferential treatment are being prepared

Not much progress has been made in the agreement in the list of products for free trade
