Registration and Processes of Export Business

Agricultural Trade especially export involves complex issues, and requires good strategic planning before venturing into it. Knowing the market for goods is the preliminary step. One has to study the export potential for the product, which is planning to be traded. Trading is basically two category, one Merchant Exporter who buys the goods from the market or from a manufacturer and sell to foreign buyers and another category is Manufacturer Exporter who trades the products manufactured by him

The individual exporter has various options depending on the financial capabilities, can start the Export as proprietary concern or a partnership firm or as a company. The procedures and process generally vary from products to products General guidelines for establishing a export business are as follows

  • Preliminary documentations - establishment of the business requires various licenses registration  and documentations based on the nature of infrastructural requirement.  ie. If the business is a proprietary concern it requires various registration with local authorities, revenue and tax authorities. If the export businesses are to be carried as company, then an additional compliances and documentations are required as per companies Act.

  • Open a current account in Bank.

  • Apply for the Exporter Importer Code Number (IEC) with the regional Licensing Authority The details of the procedure are available at http://www.ap.nic.in/jdgft/iec.htm

  • Register with the appropriate export promotion counsel to obtain benefits/concession under the export-import policy. For details of various export promotion counsel for various products, http://commerce.nic.in/epc.htm

  • Apply for export license to the Director General of Foreign Trade

  • Exporter can avail the Warehousing Facility set up at various at domestic tariff area

  • Exporter can avail various facilities based on the kind of business such as Execution of Bank Guarantee/ Legal undertaking for Advance, Authorisation / DFIA and EPCG Authorisation, Corporate Guarantee

  • Certificate of Origin Certificate of Origin is required to establish that the origin of goods exported to any country is originated from this country.

  • Various other documents are required depending on the nature of good traded, importing country, preferential trade agreements etc.

  • There are various financial services offered by the banks including Export Import Bank, Various schemes are available for exports for various goods. The details of trade promotion of various export promotion councils and schemes extended by them are provided under Trade Promotion Measures

1. Export of Live Fish

2. Export of Fresh, Frozen & Processed Fish & Fishery Products

3. Export of Raw Meat (Chilled / Frozen)

4. Export of Fresh Poultry Meat & Poultry Meat Products
