Kerala's export

India’s tea production in 2005-06 was 9.31 lakh tonnes of which 56384 tonnes (6.06%) was contributed by Kerala.  A declining trend in production in the state was observed during the last three years. Production declined from 57553 tonnes in 2003-04 to 56384  tonnes in 2005-06.

The export of tea from Kochi declined from 94839 tonnes in 2000-01 to 31985 tonnes in 2005-06 although it had reached an all time record of 103544 tonnes in 2002-03. In value terms it declined from Rs. 198.8 crores in 2000-01 to Rs. 253.48 crores in 2004-05.
