Coir Board

Developmental Schemes

Marketing Development Assistance (MDA) Scheme

To enhance the market, board introduce activities like

  • Buyer seller meet
  • Trade fairs and exhibitions
  • Trade delegations

Marketing Development Assistance give only through specific agencies like

  • Export promotion councils
  • Approved organizations consisting of commodity Boards, Development Authorities and FIEO.
Other approved trade bodies like export inspection council, FICCO, Associated chamber of commerce and Industry, CII etc

External MDA

This scheme is specially for the Exporters.  Board gives export promotion activities like

  • To undertake Sales-Cum-Study Tour, Trade Delegation and Buyer Seller Meets abroad
  • For participation in Trade Fairs & Exhibitions abroad; and
  • For publicity through printed materials

All exporters of Coir and Coir Products, registered with the Coir Board and having some export with FOB turnover of less than Rs. 2 Crores in the previous year would be eligible for assistance under this scheme.

Welfare Schemes / Programs

Coir Board has implement various welfare programmes Coir workers.

  • Construction of workshed
  • Sanitary latrine
  • Smokeless chula
  • Providing drinking water
  • Houses for Coir workers, etc

Training Programmes

  • National Coir Training Design Centre
  • Training Courses
  • Training in spinning Coir Yarn on motorised ratt/motorised traditional ratt for women under Mahila Coir Yojana
  • Short term training on the application of Coirret and Pith Plus
  • Training to women spinners to spin important trade varieties of coir yarn having market demand
  • Training in repair/maintenance of coir processing machineries to ITI passed candidates
  • Field Training in spinning coir on motorised ratt/motorised traditional ratt under Mahila Coir Yojana

Mahila Coir Yojana

This scheme is intended to provide self employment to rural women artisans in regions producing coir fibre.

Coir Board will provide 75% of the cost of the motorized as one fibre subsidy provided the other 25% is raised by the beneficiary through voluntary organizations/ financial institutions/own sources.

Subsidy linked schemes

Extension of Financial Assistance to Coir Units in the Brown Fibre Sector

  • This scheme is for extension of financial assistance to Coir Units in the brown fibre sector
  • Financial Assistance for new units and modernization of units are 25% of the equipments and infrastructural facilities

Scheme for Extension of financial Assistance for Generator Set/Diesel Engine  

  • This scheme aim to give one time subsidy to fibre, Curled Coir production units in the brown fibre sector
  • The quantum of subsidy for one unit
