Central Avian Research Institute at Izatnagar

In order to provide all-round support to the progress of poultry production, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) established the Central Avian Research Institute (CARI) at Izatnagar.

Mandate of this institute include

• Undertake basic, applied and adaptive research in all disciplines relating to avian production and post-harvest technology including conservation and maintenance of poultry germ-plasm.
• Impart specialized training and post-graduate education in Poultry science.
• Develop, update and standardize package of practices concerning feeding, management, health cover and poultry products technology and transfer of these for use by the poultry farmers and the industry.
• Act as server as a national repository in all aspects of poultry production, post-harvest technology, marketing, pricing, export and related issued.
• Provide referral and consultancy services in all aspects of Poultry Science.

Central Poultry Development Organization, Mumbai

The organization works for following objectives

• Improvement of economic traits of different strains/breeds by adopting modern scientific breeding and selection techniques.
• Development/evaluation of high producing hybrid laying chicken to meet increasing commercial needs and
• Production and supply of high quality pure line/parent stock to public and private organisations.
