Input supplies

Quality planting materials are produced by governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations and private entrepreneurs. State Governments, Agricultural Universities, Central Research Organisations (IISR) and Spices Board are the governmental agencies engaged in planting material production. The governmental agencies also support production by NGOs and private entrepreneurs by providing certified material and finance. In this case, planting materials produced are certified which ensure the sources of origin. Private entrepreneurs also produce planting materials, which are not certified.

In Kerala, Spices Board has two Nurseries located at Chithirapuram and Mattuthavalam, Udumbanchola. Board also assists growers to raise planting material through its certified nursery programme and allotted by Board's Field Offices located at different centers
